Galentine’s day

Galentine’s day

Hello everyone,

This coming Wednesday is Valentine’s day, but this week I’m writing about Galentine’s day, the 13th of February. I was first introduced to this special day when I watched Parks and Recreation (would highly recommend). In the programme, one of the main characters Leslie Knope spends the 13th of February with her female friends at breakfast to celebrate their friendship. The day takes place before valentine’s day, so you can still spend the 14th with your significant other.

I absolutely love my gal pals. I’ve always had a strong group of girl friends around me and I love that it is becoming more popular to celebrate those friendships. Last year, my course mates and I bought facemasks and watched some of our favourite films in our PJs.

You could go to the cinema, go out for food, go out-out or another fun activity that you could do together. I would encourage you to take the opportunity to show your appreciation for your female friends- write them a card, bake for them or even do their washing up!! Or you could phone your mum, grandma, auntie, sister and celebrate them!

In the words of Leslie Knope:

“Every February 13th, my lady friends and I leave our husbands and our boyfriends at home, and we just come and kick it, breakfast-style. Ladies celebrating ladies”

Let me know in the comments if you get up to anything fun!

Until next time,

Ellie
