Getting into the Christmas Spirit

Getting into the Christmas Spirit

For me Christmas begins when Halloween ends. I love Christmas – it’s the most wonderful time of the year (Andy Williams reference) and I start looking forward to it in August. However, I am aware that not everyone feels the same way and there are some scrooges in the world. If there was a job that stopped people from being scrooges and spread Christmas cheer by singing loud for all to hear (Elf reference), I would excel in it! So I thought I would share some of my favourite ways to get into the Christmas spirit.

First of all, we can’t deny that a Christmas German market is the ultimate festive fun. I have attended so many German markets, for example, Manchester, Sheffield and Leeds but the Birmingham German market is my all-time favourite. If you get chance to go be prepared for busy bustling crowds as it can get quite hectic so I would try to go mid-week if you can but its all part of the fun! You have to embrace it. I enjoy the buzz of the market and I am partial to a Bailey’s hot chocolate when I have the chance! Furthermore, the ice rink and ferris wheel also adds to the Christmas excitement. I have never been ice skating at this particular rink but this year I am going to try to make a special effort seen as it’s my last Christmas in Birmingham 😦

Secondly, I really recommend Christmas films. To me, past Halloween Christmas films are a no brainer and they are a go-to. They are just so fun and they lift up your spirits, they are just real feel good films. I watched The Holiday at the weekend which is definitely  a favourite but I also really enjoy Home Alone 1 & 2, Elf, White Christmas, Polar Express, the list could go on. At my house we even have a TV channel that just plays trashy Christmas films 24/7, it’s great! Moreover, Spotify Christmas playlists are a must – in all honesty Mariah Carey’s, All I want for Christmas, is my ring tone and has been since 1st November!!

Another way to boost your Christmas spirit is Christmas nails!! You cannot tell me that looking at anything gold, red, green orsparkly on your nails does not make you feel Christmassy. The two images on the right are my nails from last year and the set on the left are a toned down November Christmassy nails, by December they’ll be looking a whole lot more glittery and sparkly!

Lastly, if none of these get you in the festive mood you’ll have to take a trip to Costa or Starbucks and get one of their Christmas drinks, then hopefully you’ll feel as Christmassy as me!

Merry Christmas ya filthy animal! (Home Alone reference)

Hope this was helpful!
