Life at UCB through the eyes of our student bloggers

Reflecting on Year 2

Reflecting on Year 2

So this week was very exciting. Not only did I turn 21, but I also found out the results of my second year as a Business Enterprise student. I was over the moon to find I finished the year with a 1st overall.

This past year was very challenging for me as I had to balance my university work with a lot of personal problems.

I had to apply for extenuating circumstances for one of my assignments and I felt like I was going to die while completing the work. Never in my life have I felt so stressed. I was convinced the work wasn’t good enough and I spent hours crying over my laptop. Today I found out that piece of work achieved a grade of 85%. I put my blood sweat and tears into that project, and I am so proud of the grade it received.

I can’t stress enough how important it is to seek help if you need extenuating circumstances. I didn’t think I would be accepted, but I found out that my doctor’s note would be enough evidence for my extenuating circumstances to be approved. If you are unsure talk to a member of staff! We are lucky enough to have amazing staff at UCB who will go out of their way to help you. Please tell them if you have any concerns and they will advise you on the best plan of action.

I love being a business student at UCB, and even though I was going through a tough time this past year was still such an amazing experience. I can’t wait to get back and start my final year!

I still find it strange how much I love university considering it was never something that really appealed to me. I think my course and the people I have met have had such a big impact on my uni experience.  I have made so many friends. During the first year, I got to meet loads of people, but it wasn’t until the second year I solidified those friendships. I have learned so much from my course mates. Different religions, cultures… even some London slang words have become a part of my vocabulary! “Lit, sick, innit, allow it, bare, chirps, crepes” – all of these are being used way too much by this country gal nowadays!

I feel as though my university experience is changing and shaping me into the adult I want to be. It is such an exciting time in my life and I hope everyone else is just as excited as I am to be getting back to uni!

Good luck with the coming year guys. Let’s all go out there and smash it!

Ya girl,
