Christmas Treats!

Christmas Treats!

Hi everyone!

I hope you are all well and enjoyed the snow last week – I know I did. The inner child came out of me – I had snowball fights with my housemates and built a snowman with straw hair and arms!

With the snow making me feel extra Christmassy, I thought I would do a bit of baking and attempt to make some Christmas treats.  Before I begin with the rest of the blog, I would like to point out that I am not an expert in baking and just use the techniques that work for me.  These may not be perfect but it’s all good fun and I must admit both bakes taste amazing!

The first treat I wanted to try was something I had seen done by Zoella – Melted Snowman Biscuits.  Here’s how I did it:

Ingredients:

  • Icing sugar
  • Water
  • Digestive biscuits
  • Writing icing
  • Mixing bowl
  • Spoon/whisk
  • Marshmallows

Step 1: Pour some icing sugar into a bowl and add little bits of water at a time.

Step 2: Stir together until smooth.

Step 3: Place icing sugar onto a biscuit in a sort of blob looking shape – this will resemble the melted snowman body.

Step 4: Using the writing icing, draw faces onto the marshmallows – I made mine look sad and confused as to why they have melted.

Step 5: Stick a marshmallow head onto one end of the biscuit.

Step 6: Pop the biscuits into the fridge for a minute to allow the icing to set.

Step 7: Take out the fridge and using the writing icing, draw arms, buttons and any accessories onto the body of the melted snowman.

Step 8: Pop back into the fridge to cool for a minute, then take out and enjoy!

My second treat is snowman faced cupcakes.  There are many ways you can use to make these and I must admit I did cheat a little by using a pre-made mix from Betty Crockers.  However, it will still fun to make and the outcome was delicious! Here is how I made them:

Ingredients

  • Cake mix
  • 3 eggs
  • icing
  • oil
  • water
  • mixing bowl
  • Spoon
  • Cake cases
  • White chocolate buttons
  • Baking tray

Step 1: Pour your cake mix into a bowl.

Step 2: Add the oil, water and eggs.

Step 3: Mix together until smooth.

Step 4: Line your tray with cupcake cases.

Step 5: Place the cake mixture into the cupcake cases making them as equal as possible.

Step 6: Put in the oven (see box for details on time and temperature).

Step 7: Once cooked, leave to cool for a few minutes.

Step 8: Using a knife, cut out the middle of the cakes in a circle

Step 9: Place some icing into the hole and place the piece of cake you cut out earlier on top

Step 10: Using some icing, stick a chocolate button on the top and draw a snowman face and enjoy!

I hope you enjoyed this post on Christmas treats you can make.  This will be my last post until the new year!  I hope you have a Merry Christmas and a happy new year and I will speak to you soon!
