Defying Gravity

Defying Gravity

So even though my birthday was nearly a month ago, I still hadn’t received all my gifts. My big sister at the beginning of March had told me to save the 11th of April for my gift. With no idea where I was going and after reluctantly waiting months to find out my surprise was.

My sister handed me a note that said;

Becky, you are wicked,

You truly are the best,

I couldn’t ask for a better sister,

Your better than all the rest

Becky, you are wicked,

You write, you cook, and you bake

You’re full of many talents,

Our bond is one no-one can break

Becky, you are wicked,

You’re so strong and truly beautiful,

Clever, smart and amazing,

You are the best sister, simply wonderful

So if you hadn’t guessed from the title of the post or the poem I went to see WICKED!

I love the theater and have wanted to see this show for absolutely ages, so was ecstatic when finding out it was my gift. The Birmingham hippodrome is also a beautiful theater to see any show in, previously I’ve seen shows such as The Lion King, Singing in the rain and Joseph and his technicolor dream coat there.

As for the show itself, it was spectacular; I’ve rarely ever heard applause like it! The last song before the intermission was the acclaimed defying gravity where Elphaba ascends; it was indescribable and sensational to watch. The clap barely died down for the first few minutes of the intermission.

Before seeing the show I actually didn’t know the story line at all, just that it was the prequel to the Wizard of Oz. I’m not going to ruin the story by spoiling it but all I’m going to say is it’s a completely captivating story with lots of twists and turns.

So if you get the chance to see it, get tickets IMMEDIATELY!
