A family day out: Blists Hill Victorian Town

A family day out: Blists Hill Victorian Town

I am lucky enough to live in the wonderful and historic town of Ironbridge in Shropshire. We have a lot of museums in the area but the one that always gives myself and my family the most joy is Blists Hill Victorian Town. This is an open-air museum where you essentially go back in time and walk around the Victorian Village and experience life as a Victorian.

We visited the town this week and I thought it would be nice to share a piece of Shropshire with you guys.

My sister entering the town.
The clothing store.
Inside the grocery shop.
You can be transported by horse and carriage around the town.
The dentist’s chair and equipment.
News boards relevant to the time period can be seen around the town.
You can visit the traditional fish and chip shop and the pub.
The sweet shop is also a favourite of mine.
My dad’s favourite sugar mice.

You can also go inside the houses in the village and see the pigs and chickens in their gardens. There is even a fairground! There is a huge tearoom by the fairground, and a cafe on the way out of the town – so you won’t get hungry.

They still have the buildings open for visitors to see the foundry and all the places the villagers would work in.

Overall, it is just a fantastic family day out and I would highly recommend visiting.
