Over May/June, I have been finished with uni! So I thought I would share with you some of the things I have been loving over the summer so far.
Too Faced Natural Matte palette
This is a gorgeous everyday palette. The colours are really pigmented and blendable and it smells like cocoa butter!
Mac Pro Longwear Paint Pot in Painterly
I usually use the urban decay eye primer, which I still love, but this mac paint pot is an amazing base and covers the veins on my eyelid that are quite pronounced, meaning that I have a blank canvas for my eyeshadow.
A Quiet Place
I am not usually a horror fan, but this film was AMAZING! I saw it in early May and is one of my favourite films of 2018 so far (I hadn’t seen it when I made this list). I don’t want to spoil it, so all I’ll say is that is was full of suspense and scares, but also love and family and made me cry!
I love the original Ocean’s films- I remember watching them with my Dad when I was younger, so when this one was announced I was so excited, and even more so when the cast was announced- the film is full of amazing actresses! The story itself is a little formulaic- but hey, it’s a heist film, what else do you expect?
I had of course heard of Shawn Mendes before, but in May I actually sat down and listened to his music and stumbled upon his most recent album on the day it was released, and I love it! I was going to list some favourite songs but honestly, I love them all.
Panic! At The Disco-Pray for the Wicked
I’ve been listening to Panic! for a while, and their new album was just released the day that I am writing this blog post but I love it already- Brendon Urie’s voice is stunning and to be honest, he could sing anything and I’d love it.
The Duchess of Malfi
My sister studied this for her A level English and so we went to see it in Stratford upon Avon and oh my goodness WHAT a production!!! I only knew the basic storyline, so couldn’t appreciate the language as much as my sister could, but I love the way that they had modernised the setting, and the ending was breath-taking. Spoiler alert: almost everyone dies and the whole stage slowly gets filled with blood. Nice.
Heathers – The Musical
I have been hoping and praying that this would transfer over to the UK for years. When it was announced I was so incredibly happy, and the show really did exceed all of my expectations. It was a really small theatre, and so our view was amazing- at one point, I had one of the main characters (JD) make such intense eye contact with me for a good 2 minutes I almost exploded. The story is based on the 1988 film Heathers and is all about high school where a nobody called Veronica gets in with the popular girls- all called Heather. Then it all goes magnificently wrong. The cast were all so talented, and I am a big fan of Carrie Hope Fletcher who played Veronica- I have followed her YouTube channel since 2013 and saw her as Éponine in Les Miserables for my 18thbirthday, and it’s been wonderful to follow her career and watch her grow as a performer.
I hope you’ve enjoyed this week’s blog post.
Until next time,
