Vegan restaurant in Birmingham city centre: Natural Bar and Kitchen

Nowadays, people are more aware of the problems related to food and how a poor diet can lead to serious health issues. Not only that, but how processed food, meat and fish are harmful to our body and even our planet.

Although I am not a vegan or vegetarian myself, I’ve been trying to reduce the amount of meat I eat and so I decided to try one vegan restaurant located in the city centre: Natural Bar and Kitchen.

It can go unnoticed on the outside, but once you step inside, you’ll love it from the first second. The layout of the restaurant is lovely and inviting, makes you feel comfortable inside. The lady who greeted me and took my order was very nice and patient (since I am always so indecisive).

As I sat down in the wood chair and got a glance at the menu, I could immediately see I had a lot to choose from, everything looked delicious and even better, the prices were very reasonable. I ended up choosing a smoked mango and vegan mayo sourdough sandwich which came with fries (and I had to ask for an upgrade to my favourites, sweet potato fries). The service was very fast and after falling in love with the decoration, I fell in love with the dish- the flavours were strong and tasty.

I must admit that I do eat a lot, and so I thought the sandwich and fries would be just enough, but I was wrong. I couldn’t even finish. This really makes me think about how I never feel completely full when eating meat, and I always do when eating natural fruit and vegetables.

All in all, I had a really good experience and would recommend everyone, vegan or not, give it a try. It is relatively close to UCB as well, so you could always go for lunch with friends between classes.
