Trip to London

Trip to London

Hi everyone!

I hope you are well and enjoying the summer holidays!

I have still been recovering from Ibiza, so I’ve been at work or sleeping on the sofa! So instead of writing about my boring week, I thought I would share with you my trip to London I took just before finishing uni.

My best friend from school went to uni in London and so with us both soon to finish, we thought we would take advantage of the free accommodation and have a girly weekend together as a study break from dissertations. I booked a train a few weeks in advance to London Euston and it was a bargain, £12.50 to get there from Birmingham New Street – and my best friend from college also came along too!

We went on what I can describe as the first weekend of summer as it was sooo hot (much different to the monsoon weeks that were to follow!). As soon as we arrived, we got rid of our cases, got some lunch from Pret and headed straight for Hyde Park.  If you have never been to London before, I would highly recommend going for a picnic in Hyde Park, it is a huge park with so much wildlife around. It is one of those places that is made for everyone, families, fitness people, friends who want a picnic and Pimm’s or even students who want to study outside on the grass. It was so lovely just catching up, sunbathing and having a big ice cream!

After sitting in the sun for most of the afternoon, we decided to head back to the flat to shower and change for the evening. We had our favourite, Wagamamas for dinner which was AMAZING and again, if you have never tried it, you have to! It is affordable and there is something for everyone – they even have a vegan menu!

We then headed across to a place called Roof East which we had seen on Facebook and it looked really cool, so we thought we’d check it out. They advertised various activities and showed food options and bars, so we decided to go for mini golf and booked it in advanced as we were unsure how popular it would be.

When we headed to this place we had no idea what to expect as it was on top of a shopping centre and having seen it advertised on Facebook you never know what these places are like. But OMG, it was incredible! It was basically the old rooftop car park that had been converted into a rooftop entertainment place for people with an outdoor cinema, games and various seating options for people to enjoy a drink and the view of the Orbit tower at the Olympic Park. As you can see, we had great fun playing mini golf and I actually won!!

The next day we had a big Wetherspoons breakfast and spent the day in the Natural History Museum before heading home. If ever you are in London, I would also recommend checking this out. With free entry and so much to see and learn about, it is a great way to spend a few hours while there. I loved the new moon exhibition when you could walk right under the moon, so beautiful and peaceful!

I hope you enjoyed this post. Hopefully I will have recovered from my Ibiza trip when I next write to you!
