As it’s the perfect weather for walking, I thought I’d share with you my favourite local place to go for it!
Cannock Chase is about 18 miles away from Birmingham city centre so it’s about half an hour away by car. It’s a great place for walking dogs, running, cycling, a fun day out for children and even just a lovely place to hang out.
I can honestly say I love going here ALL times of the year but my favourite time to go has to be during autumn when the leaves are so colourful and you can cosy around an open fire. This time of year is also perfect if you love photography like me 🙂 That’s when the photos on this blog were taken 😉
There are lots of activities to do there such as:
- 4 walking trails
- 4 cycling trails
- Go Ape (treetop rope course)
- Forest Segway
- Dog activity trail
- Play areas
- Barbecue and picnic areas
- Bike hire
Forest Live is an annual event which supports the sustainability of the forest in order to look after it and make sure people can enjoy the thriving wildlife. The profit made from every ticket sale goes towards this. Previous line ups have included Jess Glynne, Paloma Faith and Jack Savoretti. My mum went to the last event where Paloma Faith performed and she had a great time!
At Cannock Chase you can also go camping at any of these four sites:
- Springslade Lodge
- Tackeroo Caravan Site
- Forest View Campsite
- Cannock Chase Camping and Caravanning Club Site
When I was younger I used to go camping at Beaudesert a lot with my friends. There were a lot of bushcraft and team building activities there but I personally think these activities are suitable for children. Nowadays I would rather just go for a long walk or set up a campfire with my friends.
Sometimes it’s nice to switch off from the internet and get some fresh air. I much prefer being outdoors than stuck inside all the time (we have enough of that at uni!). I hope this blog has encouraged you to explore the outdoors.
Maps of Cannock Chase can be bought at the forest cafe for £1.50.
