Favourite healthcare routines and products

Hello ☺️

I hope you’re staying safe!

Have you been sticking to a routine during lockdown? Having some sort of routine is important for your mental health and will allow you to dedicate time to the most important things. Self care is one of the most important things you should dedicate time to, so I thought I would share with you some of my favourite products and routines.

Morning routine

Every morning I use No7 daily foaming cleanser and toner. Every 2 or 3 days I also use their microdermabrasion scrub as well. I have been using these for a few years now and have really noticed the difference, especially when I stop using it or if I miss I day, I usually get a few spots on my face which isn’t nice. If I do have a spot or blemish, I like to use Clearasil’s rapid action treatment as it tends to get rid of them the fastest.

Every week I like to steam my face as it open the pores in my skin, so it is really good if I want to scrub my face after steaming as it will lift out any impurities. It is also really good to open your lungs and airways with steam so I take some deep long breaths when doing it. In order to steam your face, all you need is some very hot water in a bowl (I usually boil the kettle and wait 5 minutes) and then place your head above the bowl with a towel over your head to trap the steam from escaping. I do this for 10 minutes.

It is important not to steam your face too often as constantly opening your pores can also create spots.

Skin care / body

I have tried so many different moisturisers in the past. The one which I would have highly recommended is no longer being made and I can’t remember the name either. However, I have recently discovered an oil scrub which I found in Home Bargains, and seeing as we were in lockdown, I didn’t want to go searching through shops to find a good moisturiser so I thought I’d give it a go… Honestly it is the best product I have ever used for my skin! It is a salt scrub with coconut oil in. I use it in the shower and then pat my skin dry and my skin feels moisturised for days, it’s amazing! You can also probably make this yourself at home but it’s super cheap in Home Bargains and you get quite a big tub.

Foot care

A lot of people don’t realise how important it is to take care of your feet. Massaging your feet relieves tension in the body and releases any stress and toxins. I like to give myself a pedicure regularly and I have bought a foot bath which has massage rollers in and jet bubbles. I soak them in there for 10 minutes, then I apply cuticle oil, push back my cuticles and get rid of any dead cuticles, then I give my feet a good scrub with a foot rasp and then some salt scrub. I then put my feet back in the water to rinse them, pat my feet dry and apply moisturiser. I do this twice a week but only do my cuticles when they grow back.

Daily stretches are really important to release any tension, especially in the upper body where most people store it. Every morning I do a 30-minute stretch by following one of MADFIT’S videos on YouTube. Then I usually do an exercise video afterwards.

Lastly I would like to talk about make-up. I was never really interested in what make-up I used, as long as it was the right colour for my skin and it was easy to apply, I didn’t really care. However, since Rihanna launched her brand Fenty Beauty, I have been obsessed!

The foundations really do give me full coverage and they have primers to match as well as a hydrating foundation and a matte foundation. I tend to use the hydrating foundation in the winter and the matte foundation in the summer. They are long wear too! Their lipsticks are also amazing and don’t come off when eating food but are creamy and easy to wipe off with face wipes. You should also try their matchsticks! They are amazing for contouring and I also use bamboo for under my eyes as it really helps cover my dark circles.

Essential oils

There are so many different ways to use essential oils and they are great for relaxing. My favourite method is to spray some vanilla and lavender pillow mist on my bed before sleeping. I bought it from T K Maxx and love it, but I also know Avon sell some mists too.

I hope these methods and products are useful to you! Remember never to neglect your feet, they carry the weight of your body!

Thanks for reading!
