Things to do in Sintra

Hello everyone! Welcome back to a new post 🙂

This week I’m going to talk about my home town Sintra. Sintra is a top-rated travel destination in Portugal, and it is located just 35 minutes away from Lisbon, the capital. However, I must say, when you come to Sintra it is a totally different world, despite its travel time from the capital. It is surrounded by green trees, and it gives you the feeling you are in a different era.

If you ever consider visiting, I would definitely recommend some of the most beautiful monuments you can see in Sintra.

  • Pena Palace

The magnificent Palácio da Pena is one of Portugal’s outstanding examples of 19th-century Romantic revivalism. It is also one of the most popular attractions in Sintra.

  • Regaleira Palace

This palace is classified as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. It is a beautiful property that features a park, wells, fountains and a chapel. It usually gets quite busy, especially during the summer, so I’d advise buying a ticket in advance.

  • Moorish Castle

The ruins of this castle stand at the top of Sintra. It once was a mighty castle during the Moorish era. During that time, it defended the entire region from attacks. Today, it is a beautiful place to see the city from the top.

If you visit Sintra one day, make sure you go to one of these places, I’m sure you won’t be disappointed! 😉
