‘New Year, New You’

‘New Year, New You’

I entered an Instagram competition last week. You know, one of those ones that you post something on your story, and it counts as an entry. My hairdresser was doing it along with a handful of other small businesses in the area. You could win several prizes from these small businesses. The things you could win included:

  • 3 personal training sessions
  • A full body massage
  • A set of gel nails
  • A facial
  • LVL lashes
  • Hair treatment and cut
  • 2 hours home organising
  • £100 voucher

I know!! So much to win. It was advertised as a ‘New Year, New You’ competition. A way to start your 2022 off right. No surprise I didn’t win. I was very bummed as I thought that was exactly what I could’ve done with. I’d spent my 2021 not doing much. I’ve put on weight, got lazy and haven’t really cared about my appearance. So I decided, when I didn’t win the competition, that I was going to start my 2022 off right, competition or no competition!

The first thing on the list was three personal training sessions. I’ve been a member of a gym since I was like 17 and I used to be really into it, but since lockdown, it has been a struggle. I definitely cannot afford a personal trainer, so I decided to start Couch to 5k. That way I would have something to work towards and it was the closest thing I could afford to having a personal trainer… Because it’s free! I’ve done five runs now and I’m loving it. I honestly feel like this is a great step towards getting my fitness back.

The next prize on the list was a full body massage. I’m going to lump the facial in with that because I can’t afford either – being a student and everything! I have however booked in a spa trip with my boyfriend in March. We had a voucher to use that I had got for Christmas in 2019, but we hadn’t had a chance to use it due to Covid. So, I’m going to somewhat count that as ticking those off the list.

Next was getting my nails done. I love getting my nails done so I’ve booked myself in for 19 January! My birthday is on 31 January so I would’ve liked to have had them done either way. Next is lashes. Now, as much as I like how they look, they really irritate me and make my eyes itch so I’m not going to bother to do that one! I have however booked in to get my hair cut and dyed, proper treating myself. It’s a long time overdue, to be fair.

Other than the £100 voucher, which I can’t really do unless I just spend £100, there is the 2 hours home organising. I’m not bothered that I didn’t win this one as the competition was Bedfordshire-based and my home is now Birmingham. However, my home is in desperate need of a spring clean and some organising. Especially my wardrobe! So, I’m going to work on that, and I’ll update you when I get somewhere. I have a lot of deadlines in January so that may have to be a task for February.

I hope you’re all having a good start to 2022!
