Life at UCB through the eyes of our student bloggers

The Results are In…

This week I found out my university results. I am really proud to say that I achieved a first class honours!

No matter what result I got, it would have been a great day – simply finishing a three-year degree, especially during Covid, would have been an amazing achievement.

I’ve been spending the week at my mum’s in the Lake District, and I found out my results on Tuesday at 12pm, while walking around Bowness-On-Windermere. That place will now always hold a special place in my heart.

The first year I spent at university, I wasn’t getting the best grades or trying very hard, if I’m honest. Then Covid hit and I didn’t really have anything better to do than work. So, my grades improved. In my second year, all of the lectures were online, so I wasn’t seeing anyone or getting any face-to-face time with my lecturers. I started to lose motivation and my grades were slipping again!

When my final year came around, I decided I wasn’t going to let Covid sabotage my decision to come to university and I put in a lot of effort. Because of this, I got a great result.

What I’m trying to explain to you is that my university experience has been very up and down and definitely not easy. But if you have the right frame of mind and put in the effort, you’re sure to get great results and feel proud of your accomplishments.

I just want to congratulate everyone who received their final results this week. If you didn’t, and your final results day is coming next year or the years following, work as hard as you can! Remember, you’re doing this for no one but yourself, so make yourself proud.
